
Baena and Aguilar Earn Conference Honors

TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa's Sergio Baena earned The American All-Conference Second Team honors, while freshman Jared Aguilar was named to the All-Rookie Team, the league office announced on Wednesday morning.
"I'm happy for Sergio and Jared," head coach Tom McIntosh said. "Those guys deserve the recognition that they have received. We are proud of what they accomplished as individuals. They worked exceptionally hard and played at a high level throughout the whole year. We're excited for them and happy they received these awards."
A senior midfielder from Madrid, Spain, Baena played in 14 games and made 12 starts this season. He led the team with six goals and added three assists for a team-high 15 points. He went 3-for-3 on penalty kicks and 15 of his 28 shots this season were put on target. In The American, Baena ranked seventh in shots per game (2.0), fifth in points per game (1.07), and sixth in goals per game (0.43). He was named player of the match twice.
Aguilar, a freshman from Denton, Texas, played in all 15 matches and started in 11. After breaking his way into the starting lineup against Drake, Aguilar held the spot throughout the rest of the season. The midfielder scored his first career goal against South Florida on Oct. 5 and finished the season with 15 shots, five on target. He was named the player of the match four times.
