Facing Florida
•   This is the second meeting between Tulsa and Florida.
•   The first meeting came on Dec. 2, 1983, as the Gators captured a 70-52 win in Tulsa.
•   Tulsa dropped the women's basketball program after the 1986-87 season before reinstituting it in 1996-97.

•   Tulsa completes a three-game homestand on Friday as Texas Southern visits the Reynolds Center for a 6:30 p.m. game.

Poindexter Surpasses 1,000 Career Points
•       Temira Poindexter became just the 12th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau.
•       Ashe reached the 1,000-point plateau by scoring 15 points at TCU, which was her 66th career game played.
•       Poindexter now has 1,026 points for a 15.3 average in 67 career games.
•       She ranks 12th on the all-time scoring list, needing 46 more points to tie Erika Wakefield (1,072 pts, 2014-18) for 11th place.
•       Another Hurricane player, Katia Gallegos has already reached the 1,000-point mark in her career with 1,085 points, including 967 in three seasons at UTEP and 118 points at Tulsa.
 
Madi Knocks Down the Treys
•       Trailing 56-54 against UCA, freshman Madi Cartwright scored her first points of the second half when her three-pointer at the 4:05 mark put Tulsa ahead 57-54.
•       It was her next 3-point attempt at the 2:59 mark that put Tulsa ahead 60-56 as the Hurricane held on for a two-point 60-58 win.
•       Cartwright finished the game with 12 points on 4-of-6 from the field, including 4-of-6 from three-point range.
•       She leads Tulsa with a .447 three-point percentage, while making 17-of-38 … she has had four multiple three-point made games.
•       Cartwright made a season-high 5-of-8 treys vs. Northwestern State, then her second-highest was 4-of-6 vs. UCA.
 
 
Coaching Connection
•      The two coaches in today's game, Tulsa's Angle Nelp and Florida's Kelly Rae Finley, each played collegiately at Colorado State.
•      Their paths did not cross while attending college.
•      Nelp, formerly Gorton, played at CSU from 1998-2002 and ended her career with 1,397 points, while leading the Rams to three NCAA Tournament appearances.
•      Finley followed Nelp at Colorado State … Finley began her career at Northwestern as a freshman in 2004-05 before transferring to Colorado State, playing for the Rams from 2005-08.

  • Temira Poindexter has now scored in double-digits in all nine games this year and for the 54th time in 67 career games.
  • Poindexter scored 12 first-half points against UCA, giving her double digits in the first half of a game six times this season.
  • She scored –– 15 at Lindenwood, 16 vs. New Orleans, 18 vs. UAPB, 16 vs. #25 Mississippi State, 13 at TCU and 12 vs. UCA –– in the first half of those games this year.

Poindexter Near the Top in NCAA Stats
•       Temira Poindexter ranks 13th nationally for scoring with a 22.2 average after nine games … Iowa's Caitlin Clark leads the nation with a 29.0 average.
•       Poindexter's 200 points ranks sixth in NCAA stats, while she ranks fifth for field goals (75), fourth for field goal attempts (165) and fifth for three-point attempts (73).
 
Crawford & Poindexter AAC Earn Player of the Week Honors
•    In the first three weeks of the season, Tulsa juniors Delanie Crawford and Temira Poindexter were named two of the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week selections.
•       Delanie Crawford earned all-conference accolades in the first week after averaging 21.7 points while shooting 57% from the field, 54%from 3-point range and 90% from the free throw line. She added 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists.
•       In an 89-80 opening road win at Lindenwood, Crawford scored 35 points for the second highest single-game point total in school history.
•       In the second week of the season, Crawford was named to the AAC weekly honor roll.
•       On Nov. 27, Poindexter earned the AAC Player of the Week award after totaling 26.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists while leading Tulsa to a 2-1 record at the Van Chancellor Classic.
•       Poindexter totaled 29 points against UAPB, 26 in a win over Clemson and 23 against 25th-ranked Mississippi State.
•       It's the first weekly honor for both Crawford and Poindexter in their careers … Poindexter was named the Freshman of the Week eight times in 2021-22 and made the weekly honor roll six times last year.

All-Around Player
•       Delanie Crawford is not only scoring 17.2 points per game to rank second on the roster, but the junior has done it efficiently.
•       Crawford has a .486 field goal percentage, .423 from three-point range and .861 from the charity stripe.
•       Crawford is among the top-6 in The American for all three shooting categories – FG percentage (3rd), three-point percentage (6th) and free throw percentage (3rd).
•       She is also second on the team for rebounding (6.0) and third for assists (2.3).
 
Gallegos Getting More Points 
•       In the early going, Tulsa senior guard Katia Gallegos has shown her ability to score.
•       A year ago, in her first with the Hurricane, Gallegos averaged just 2.3 points, while shooting 23% from the field and 10% from behind the arc.
•       Gallegos scored just 45 points in 20 games a year ago, while after nine contests this year she has totaled 73 points for an 8.1 scoring average.
•       She also averages a team-high 3.4 assists, 3.0 rebounds and is shooting 51% from the field.
•       Gallegos has four double-figure scoring games this year as compared to zero last season.
•       She has scored her Tulsa career-high of 18 points twice this year, coming against Lindenwood and UAPB.
