The Tulsa women's basketball team dropped a 60-37 decision to Houston on Saturday afternoon at the Fertitta Center in Houston, Texas.  The Golden Hurricane fell to 16-12 on the season and 6-9 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Cougars moved to 12-15 overall and 9-5 in the league.

Temira Poindexter and Delanie Crawford led Tulsa with 10 points each, while Maya Mayberry contributed seven and Caroline Lyles had six.  Hadley Periman had team-bests of eight rebounds and three assists and Poindexter had two steals.

Tulsa will return to action in the final regular season game of the season on Wednesday, March 1 against UCF beginning at 6:30 pm at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

How it Happened
Tulsa jumped out to an 8-0 lead on a pair of three-pointers made by Temira Poindexter and a layup by Delanie Crawford at the 8:02 mark.  TU then owned an 11-4 lead with 3:52 on the clock, but the Cougars went on a 6-0 run to make it a one-point game.  Neither team scored in the final 2:17 off the clock as the Golden Hurricane owned an 11-10 lead at the end of the frame.

Bria Patterson scored a layup for Houston to start the second quarter, giving the Cougars their first lead of the game (12-11) at the 8:59 mark.  Tulsa was held scoreless from the 3:52 mark of the first quarter to the 3:15 mark of the second quarter, spanning 10:37 off the clock, when Maddie Bittle hit two free throws.  Fortunately for TU, Houston also struggled to shoot the ball and owned just a 14-13 lead at that time.

Caroline Lyles hit a big three with 50 seconds to play in the first 20 minutes, tying the game at 16-16, but Tiara Young put the Cougars up by two, 18-16, with a jumper with 28 seconds remaining and Houston took that advantage into halftime.

The Cougars climbed to a 10-point lead, 30-20, at the 7:05 mark of the third quarter.  They then took a 13-point advantage four times in the frame, including a 44-31 lead with 10 minutes to play.

Houston outscored Tulsa, 16-6, in the final frame and owned a game-best 23 point advantage to end the contest.
