Tulsa Track Earns Seven First Place Finishes at Shocker Spring Invitational

WICHITA, Kan. — The University of Tulsa track team came away with seven top finishes at the Shocker Spring Invitational in Wichita.

The women's team led the way with four first-place times, and the men's team added three. Overall, there were eight new personal bests set at the two-day meet.
Â
Sophomore Anna Mager earned her first career top finish with a time of 24.97 in the women's 200-meter dash. Sophomore Jayda Gibson was the event's runner-up with a personal best time of 25 seconds flat.

In her first outdoor meet, true freshman Sarah Hosey finished first overall in the women's 1,500-meter run in 4:40.91. From Limerick, Ireland, she also finished third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.71.

Another true freshman that made waves was Jemima Antoniazzi. The Hamilton, New Zealand product dominated with 3,000-meter steeplechase with a 11:01.04 finish, 12 seconds over the runner-up—freshman teammate Alicen Ashley (11:13.10).

Junior Tamara Reeves rounded out the strong women's performance with a 10:01.22 finish to take first in the 3,000-meter run.

Sophomore Evan Sanni Thomas recorded the 8th-fastest 400m in TU history with a 47.23 finish in the 400-meter dash. The Woodlands, Texas native also competed in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 23.75.

True freshmen Chanel Muir and Novo Onovwerosuoke added the sixth and seventh first-place finish for the Golden Hurricane. Muir took home the gold in the 1,500-meter run in 3:56.03, while Onovwerosuoke crossed the finish line 21.47 in the 200-meter dash.

Tulsa will return to action next weekend at the Stanford Invitational, spanning Friday, Mar. 1, and Saturday, Apr. 1.
