Tulsa Runners Race at the Stanford Invitational

STANFORD, Calif. — The University of Tulsa track team sent six athletes to compete at the Stanford Invitational Friday, all of whom set new personal bests.

Junior Christian Baker took first place in Section No. 3 of the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, beating out 15 other runners in 8:42.53.

In the third section of the women's 5,000-meter run, juniors Chloe Hershenow (16:05.76) and Layla Roebke (16:13.34) placed fourth and eighth, respectively, in a flight that featured 25 total competitors.

Senior Scott Beattie took a fourth-place finish in Section No. 1 of the men's 10,000-meter run in 27:58.92, beating out 26 athletes in a flight consisting of 30 total competitors.

In a race that went into the early hours of Saturday, Tulsa's Shuaib Aljabaly and Malte Propp rounded out the day's action in the second section of the men's 10,000-meter run. Aljabaly finished third in 28:37.67 while Propp crossed the finish line in 28:56.71 as the 20th finisher.

Tulsa will return to action at the KT Woodman Classic, spanning Apr. 6-8 in Wichita.
