Former TU Tennis Star Marcelo Arevalo Opens U.S. Open as No. 4 Seed in Doubles

Queens, N.Y. — Former University of Tulsa tennis standout Marcelo Arevalo (El Salvador) and his doubles teammate Jean-Julien Rojer (Netherlands) will begin play at the U.S. Open as the No. 4 seed in the doubles draw.
 
Currently ranked No. 8 in the world (ATP), the pair will look to win their second Grand Slam event after winning the 2022 French Open.
 
The duo's first round match comes against Argentine pair Guido Andreozzi and Francisco Cerundolo on Wednesday, August 30, at approximately 10 a.m. (CT).
  
Arevalo was a two-year letterwinner and all-conference performer for the Golden Hurricane. He was named C-USA Player of the Year and ITA Central Region Player to Watch as a sophomore. Arevalo compiled a career 29-14 singles mark and 30-11 doubles record during his tenure at Tulsa (2009-11).
