Tulsa Women’s Soccer Hosts Rice in Conference Matchup on Thursday Afternoon

TULSA, Okla. –– The University of Tulsa women's soccer team is set for an early afternoon matchup as the Golden Hurricane hosts the Rice Owls on Thursday at the Hurricane Soccer Stadium.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and will air on ESPN+. Tickets are $5 general admission and can be purchased at the north ticket gate, online at TulsaHurricane.com/tickets or by calling the TU Athletic Ticket Office at 918.631.4688.
Fans unable to attend Thursday's match in person can watch it live on ESPN+. TU fans can subscribe to ESPN+ to watch select Golden Hurricane basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball games. The Hurricane brings a 2-6-3, 0-0-2 The American, record into Thursday on the back of three consecutive draws. Tulsa has not lost in its past five matchups. The Hurricane faced SMU in its lone matchup a week ago, holding the conference opponents to a scoreless draw. Tatum Sanders came away with four saves and the clean sheet in goal.
The sophomore goalkeeper is up to 630 minutes on the season and has played in seven games after starting the season injured. She's made 28 saves and has posted shutouts in four of the past five games. Sanders has recorded a 77.1 save percentage and 1.14 goals against average.
Rice enters the week with a 2-8-1 record into Thursday and is 0-2-0 in conference play. The Owls allowed six goals in each of their first two conference games and have only scored three, all against SMU. Rice is on a four-game losing streak and haven't found a win since Aug. 27, going 0-6-1 since beating Northwestern State 2-1.
Ellen Halseth leads the Owls attack with five goals this season. She also is the joint-leader in assists with three, alongside Natalie Gorji. Eight other Rice players have scored at least one goal this season.
In goal, Ann Stephanie Fortin has seen the most action. The junior goalkeeper has started and played eight games this season, logging 675 minutes. She has recorded a 60.4 save percentage, making 29 saves while allowing 19 goals, which is good for a 2.53 goals per game average.
Rice leads the all-time series 11-5 against the Golden Hurricane. The teams last met at Rice in 2018, with the Owls winning 2-0. Tulsa has dropped the last three games in the series, last winning on the road 1-0 in 2013, the final season as part of Conference USA.
