Tulsa Runners Get a Tune-Up at Wendy’s/Pittsburg State Invitational

PITTSBURG, Kan. — The Tulsa track and field team competed in the Wendy's/Pittsburg State Invitational Saturday in the Robert W. Plaster Center on the Pittsburg State campus and came away with seven top-10 performances and nine new personal bests.
Women
Tulsa had five women finish in the top 10 in the 600-yard run. Sophomore Billie Rouse (1:24.54) led the way with a second-place performance, Sarah Hosey (1:25.22) followed in third place, Lianne Holtermann fifth, Anastasia Small eighth and Karlie Wooten 10th. It was the first time the top four finishers had run the event.
In her fourth meet of the season, senior Elizabeth Roca earned her fourth top-10 finish, this time in the 200-meter dash in which she marked a new personal best of 24.66.
Tulsa had two tie for 50th in the 60-meter dash early in the day; they were freshmen Sajara Hill and Mary Rocco-Phillips, who each clocked a personal best of 8.022.
Men
Junior Evan Sanni Thomas was the lone runner from the men's side to compete on Saturday. In the 600-yard run, he crossed the finish line in 1:12.32—a new personal best and officially the third-fastest time in the event in program history.
