Tulsa Women’s Basketball Receives Revised 2024-25 Conference Schedule

10/2/2024 11:51:00 AM | Women's Basketball

IRVING, Texas — In an effort to create a fair and competitive schedule for each women's basketball program, the American Athletic Conference has announced a revised 18-game slate for each of the league's 13 teams, including the reigning regular-season champion Golden Hurricane who went 13-5 in AAC action and 25-10 overall last season.

Golden Hurricane fans will have the opportunity to catch the Hurricane at home in the Donald W. Reynolds Center 15 times this season starting with six non-league games this fall with nine conference contests to follow December through February. Fans can call 918.631.4688 or visit https://tulsahurricane.evenue.net/events/WBS to purchase Tulsa women's basketball season tickets. Tip-off times and television designations will be announced at a later date.

Six of TU's conference matchups will be against 2024 postseason teams, including last season's AAC tournament champion and NCAA participant Rice, WBIT first-rounder North Texas (home and away) and WNIT competitors UTSA (home and away), and UAB (away).

First, Tulsa will host East Carolina in the conference home opener Dec. 29 and begin the new year with a New Year's Day game at North Texas.

Tulsa still leads the all-time series with East Carolina, 16-14. North Texas claimed a share of the regular season title last season alongside the Hurricane and appeared in the first round of the 2024 WBIT. Tulsa leads the all-time series 9-1 heading into the first of two games against the Mean Green.

Tulsa will follow with two home games as the Hurricane will host UTSA (Jan. 4) and Charlotte (Jan. 8) in the Reynolds Center. TU took down both teams a year ago, beating the Roadrunners - who advanced to the second round of the WNIT back in March - in a 74-70 decision and taking down the 49ers in Charlotte by 10 (65-55).

Three days later, TU takes a trip to Philadelphia to face Temple on Saturday, Jan. 11. The Owls also finished 13-5 in league play for a share of the regular season title in 2023-24. Afterward, the Hurricane will return home to host Florida Atlantic for a midweek matchup on Jan. 15 before hitting the road a week later for game No. 2 against UTSA on Jan. 22 following a short bye.

Then, TU will host Memphis (Jan. 25) and travel to Rice (Jan. 29) to wrap up the January slate. Tulsa recaptured the series over Memphis, 14-13, with a 71-62 road win and split games with Rice last year before the Owls won the conference tournament as the No. 14 seed to earn the league's automatic bid for March Madness.

Tulsa will open February by hosting nearby Wichita State on the 1st for the first of two games against the Shockers. Then, TU will head to North Carolina for games against Charlotte (Feb. 5) and East Carolina (Feb. 8).

After a quick bye, the Hurricane will welcome North Texas on Feb. 15 and Tulane on Feb. 19 before wrapping up the week at UAB (Feb. 22). It'll be the Hurricane's second contest with the Mean Green, and last year, Tulsa snapped an 11-game losing streak to the Blazers, who competed in the first round of the WNIT.

The home finale for the Hurricane will be played against South Florida on Wednesday, Feb. 26.

By March, only two games separate TU from the conference championship. March 1 and 4 will feature rematches for the Hurricane at Memphis and Wichita State, respectively, with the regular season finale being played in Wichita that Tuesday.

For a fifth consecutive season, the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, will play host to the women's and men's American Athletic Conference Championships. The women's tournament will run March 8-12 and the men's bracket spans March 12-16.

The American previews the 2024-25 season Oct. 13-14 when the league hosts its Basketball Media Day on ESPN+. The Tulsa women and men will participate on Sunday the 13th with coverage from The Westin Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas in Irving beginning at 8 a.m. Central.
