The 47th Mayor's Cup
  • The Mayor's Cup is back in the Donald W. Reynolds Center for the first time since 2022.
  • ORU leads the series 34-12 and won last year's game in the Mabee Center 93-87.
  • Tulsa had won four straight over ORU before last season's loss ... both teams are 5-5 in the last 10 matchups.
  • Third-year head coach Kelsi Musick let Oral Roberts to its first WNIT berth since 2012 last season, where the Golden Eagles fell to Grambling in the first round.
  • Four starters from last year highlight the Golden Eagles roster this year, including 2023-24 leading scorer Taleyah Jones, Ruthie Udoumoh, Emily Robinson and Meghan Weinrich.
  • ORU is 2-1 heading into Sunday's game after home wins over Northeastern State and UTRGV and a road setback at Oklahoma State.

Hill Scoring in Double-Digits
  • Returning sophomore guard Elise Hill has scored in double-figures in four of her last five games for the Golden Hurricane, including in her first two career starts this season.
  • She had 12 points in the season-opener against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and scored 12 more in a team-leading effort at Missouri State (11/10).
  • She led back-to-back double-digit scoring efforts in the first two rounds of the WBIT last season, including a career-high 18 points against Arkansas.

Winning the Turnover Margin
  • Tulsa is handling the ball well through the first two games of the season with a +7.0 turnover margin per game, the second-highest among all American Athletic Conference teams so far.
  • Opponents have turned the ball over 45 times compared to Tulsa's 31.
  • The turnover battle has been largely due to TU's ability to steal the ball, out-stealing opponents 21-12.
  • The Hurricane benefitted from 22 UAPB turnovers, stole the ball nine times and gave it up 15 times.
  • Last time out, TU stole the ball 12 times at Missouri state and got the Bears to turn it over 23 times while only giving up 16 turnovers and five steals.

Heroic Hill Caps TU's Record-Breaking Comeback in Season Opener
  • Returning guard Elise Hill started her sophomore season with a bang after she sank a three-pointer in the final second of the Golden Hurricane's 2024-25 season-opener, capping a 17-point comeback for the 63-60 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff Wednesday night in the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
  • With five seconds left, Hill, a Tulsa native, fielded an inbounded pass from sophomore teammate Mady Cartwright, took the ball to the top of the key, and swished it in front of 1,355 roaring fans. The hometown hero would finish with 12 points off 5-for-9 shooting.
  • 17 points is the largest deficit Tulsa has ever overcome to win.

Late Free Throws Lift Tulsa over Arkansas-Pine Bluff
  • The Hurricane went 10-14 in free throws in the fourth quarter to outscore the Lions 15-5 in the final period to complete a 17-point comeback victory.
  • Tulsa was down 55-48 entering the fourth quarter and had trailed by as many as 17 points at the half.
  • After neither team could score in the first 4:27 of the fourth quarter until Mady Cartwright drew a shooting foul and made the subsequent free throws.
  • Delanie Crawford (3), Jade Clack (2) and Lexie Foutch (1) each contributed free throws before Cartwright draw a foul while going for an offensive board and made the pair of free throws that tied the game at 60-60 at 0:17.
  • From there, Cartwright drew a charge with five seconds left, passed the ball to Elise Hill and watched as Hill made the game-winner right before time expired.

Newcomers Make Immediate Impact for TU
  • Transfers Kristol Ayson (Jacksonville State), Paige Bradley (TCU), Jade Clack (TCU) and McKayla Miller (Creighton) all saw their first playing time for the Golden Hurricane during the 63-60 comeback win over UAPB.

Nelp Over Halfway to Century Mark in Wins.
  • Tulsa's Angie Nelp won her 50th career game in her three seasons with a 65-55 win at Charlotte on Jan. 27, 2024.
  • She is currently 60-35 two games into her fourth season.
  • No previous Tulsa coach had reached 50 wins in their first three seasons … only three other Tulsa head coaches won more than 50 games in their careers.

  • Preseason expectations for senior guard Delanie Crawford are high as the returning All-American from Piedmont, Okla., has been named to two preseason honors.
  • The WBCA selected Crawford as one of 25 hoopers from around the country to the 2025 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Watch List, becoming the first Golden Hurricane player to represent Tulsa on any Hammon Award watch list.
