IRVING, Texas — For the third time this season, The University of Tulsa's Temira Poindexter was named the American Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, announced by the league Monday. She now holds the most Player of the Week honors across the entire conference.

A junior forward from Sapulpa, Okla., Poindexter helped push the Golden Hurricane to two big wins last week to move Tulsa into first place in league standings, averaging 25.5 points off 19-of-37 field goals made (51 percent), 8-of-17 three-pointers drained (47 percent) and 5-of-7 free throws (71 percent) to go with 9.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game.

In a key road test at first-place Temple, Poindexter recorded her AAC-leading fifth game of 30 or more points this season with 30 points resulting from 11-of-21 baskets from the field, including four treys, and added nine boards and two blocks on defense. The win moved Tulsa into a three-way tie for first place in the league with the Owls and the North Texas Mean Green.

In the home finale against SMU, she led the Hurricane with 21 points and chipped in nine more rebounds and two blocks to help the Hurricane conclude the home slate with a 13-1 record in the Donald W. Reynolds Center, the best home finish in program history.

Tulsa will wrap up the regular season at Tulane (10-18, 3-14 AAC) with a tipoff time of 6:00 p.m. With a spot in the quarterfinal of The American Championship locked up, a win over the Green Wave will lock up the No. 1 seed for the Hurricane as well as a share of the regular season conference title. All TU women's basketball games can be heard on 93.5 FM The Jet Radio. All home and away American Athletic Conference games can be viewed on ESPN+.
