Tulsa Golfers Just Five Strokes Off Lead After Opening Round at The American

ROUND ONE RESULTS

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. ––
The Tulsa women golfers sit in fifth place just five strokes off the lead after the opening round play of the American Athletic Conference Championship Monday.
 
The Golden Hurricane shot 5-under 283, just five strokes behind first-place SMU's score of 10-under 278 at the par-72 Southern Hills Golf Club. East Carolina at 9-under 279, South Florida at 7-under 281 and UTSA at 6-under 282 sit in second thru fourth place.
 
Tulsa juniors Lovisa Gunnar and Sydney Seigel paced the Golden Hurricane in first round action. Gunnar shot 4-under 68 to end round one in fourth place after turning in five birdies with just one bogey on the day.
 
Seigel carded a 2-under par round 70 and is in a 12th-place tie individually. She had two birdies and one bogey on each of her first nine and second nine holes.
 
Sophomore Jenni Roller shot an even par 72 for 18th place. Redshirt freshman Allyn Stephens is one shot back with a +1 score of 73 for 23rd place, while sophomore Grace Kilcrease is two shots back at 74 for 30th place.
 
Teams will resume the second round of the 2024 American Women's Golf Championship on Tuesday with tee times expected to begin at 8 a.m. (ET) / 7 a.m. (CT).
