Tulsa Allows One Hit, Falls 2-0

CHARLOTTE, N.C – For the second time this season, the University of Tulsa fell in a conference game on the road despite giving up a solitary hit. On Friday, Charlotte's two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth was the difference in a 2-0 loss at Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium.
Tulsa drops to 27-16 (12-7 The American) on the season and has failed to score in its past two contests. Charlotte improves to 27-16 (13-6 The American) and takes over second place in the conference .
Maura Moore (10-6) was fantastic in her six innings of work. The Junior struck out five and allowed just the one hit. Unfortunately, it was costly. After walking a batter with one out in the bottom of the sixth, Arianna Rodri hit a two-run home run, which proved to be the game winner. Moore recovered to retire the next two batters.
Abby Jones and Kailyn Bearpaw had Tulsa's two hits. Claira Skaggs and Maci Cole each drew a walk.
CHARLOTTE 2, TULSA 0
Through the first five innings of softball, Kailyn Bearpaw's infield single in remained the game's only hit. Claira Skaggs, who had opened the inning with a walk, ended up on third with two outs after the hit. But TU couldn't drive her in. In the fifth, Maci Cole was hit to lead off the inning and moved to second on a wild pitch but was unable to move up.
Charlotte broke through in the sixth. After a groundout, the 49ers drew a walk. Conference home run leader Arianna Rodri stepped up next and did what she's done all season, deposit a pitch over the wall in what proved to be the only run's on Friday evening.
