Tulsa’s Rollins and Seger Earn All-Conference Honors

IRVING, Texas — University of Tulsa men's tennis duo Pierce Rollins and Timothy Carlsson Seger were named Doubles All-Conference while Rollins also took home singles all-conference honors, the American Athletic Conference announced Wednesday.
All-conference honors were awarded to the top six singles players and top five doubles teams in the April 23 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Rankings. A senior from Tulsa, Rollins makes the cut as the country's 63rd-ranked singles player and stands as the second highest-ranked athlete in The American while forming the nation's 51st-ranked doubles tandem with Seger, a sophomore from Taby, Sweden.
As a pair, Rollins and Seger found their chemistry early on to form the Hurricane's premier doubles team. The duo went 5-2 together in the fall and took over No. 1 Doubles against Arkansas (Feb. 21) after receiving their first doubles ranking of 55 in the first ITA poll of the dual-match season. From there, they went 10-6 this spring, including a 4-2 record against nationally ranked tandems with wins over No. 3 Hunter Heck/Karlis Ozolins (Illinois), No. 35 Pablo Alemany/Charlie Barry (Memphis), No. 45 Jared Horwood/Melvin Manuel (Arkansas) and Oliver Johansson/Matija Matic (Drake).
Rollins and Seger clinched the doubles point eight times for TU against Nebraska, Drake, UCF, Oklahoma State, Illinois, Wichita State, Memphis and Lindenwood.
An at-large bid for the NCAA Singles Championship (May 20-25), Rollins has caught fire after winning his last eight singles matches for the Hurricane at the top of the lineup, seven of which were in straight sets. In addition, Rollins clinched team victories for Tulsa against Oral Roberts and Drake. He enters the Big Dance at 14-13 overall and 13-10 in dual matches with two-set victories over each of The American's top three ranked singles players.
