TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa women's basketball team has added Jacksonville State transfer Kristol Ayson to the 2024-25 roster, announced by Head Coach Angie Nelp.

A one-year starter for the Gamecocks and two-year letterwinner at Arizona Western (NJCCA), Ayson – a 5-8 guard who will spend her final year of eligibility with the Golden Hurricane – joins TCU transfers Paige Bradley (redshirt junior) and Jade Clack (sophomore), Creighton addition McKayla Miller (sophomore) and true freshmen Brooklyn Alexander, Kennedi Alexander and Whitney Sullivan as the seventh newcomer on next season's roster.

"We are excited to announce the addition of Kristol Ayson to our Tulsa family. She is a dynamic playmaking guard that fits our style of play. Throughout her career, she has shown great determination to achieve success. As a veteran player, she brings a wealth of experience, a proven competitive edge and a work ethic that will undoubtedly elevate our team's performance. We look forward to seeing her leadership and skills in action as we continue to strive for excellence on and off the court."

As the only Gamecock to start in each of Jacksonville State's 29 games last season, Ayson led the team with 8.1 points, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game while securing 3.7 rebounds in 26.1 minutes per contest. She shot .398 from the field (92-231), .225 from beyond the arc (18-80) and .702 in free throws (33-47) while setting career-highs of 19 points and two blocks against Utah Tech (Nov. 9), 10 rebounds against Sam Houston (March 9) in a game where she also recorded a double-double with 14 points, five assists at Alabama State (Nov. 30) and four steals against Life University (Nov. 20) and UTEP (Feb. 29).

Prior to her time at JSU, Ayson spent two years at Arizona Western College in Yuma, Ariz., where she earned NJCCA All-America Honorable Mention honors as a sophomore in 2022-23. She was also named First-Team All-ACCAC and All-Region DI after averaging 14.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. She scored in double-figures in 29 of AWC's 30 matchups and shot .396 from the field and .303 from deep in her final season. As a freshman in 2021-22, she helped the Matadors to the program's second-ever national tournament appearance and posted per-game averages of 6.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.7 assists in her first season of college ball.

At the high school level, Ayson starred for Lincoln High School in her hometown of Tacoma, Wash., where she was named Pierce County League MVP and Defensive Player of the Year, and Second-Team All-State after averaging 25 points and five steals per game as a senior in 2020-21. She guided the undefeated Lady Abes to a 3A PCL Championship in 2021, scoring a game-high 20 points in the title game.

WHY KRISTOL CHOSE TU…
"I chose TU because I wanted to be pushed to my fullest potential, both on the basketball court and in the classroom, in a place that encourages excellence in all areas."
