Tulsa Cross Country to Open Season at Cowboy Preview

TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa men's and women's cross-country teams will begin the 2024 season at Oklahoma State's Cowboy Preview in Stillwater, Okla. Friday morning.

A familiar event for the Golden Hurricane harriers, TU will compete on the Greiner Family Cross Country Course. The men's 5k race will begin at 8:15 a.m., with the women's 3k to take place at 8:45.

The Tulsa men will look to continue their dynasty this year after earning their 10^th consecutive American Athletic Conference title, 14^th straight conference championship and 16^th overall conference title last year.

TU enters the season opener ranked No. 28 in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) men's preseason poll released earlier this week. They are the only ranked group in The American and stand as the third-best team in the Midwest region behind the reigning national champion Oklahoma State Cowboys, who also rank No. 1 in the nation, and No. 5 Iowa State.

The Hurricane women are ranked ninth in the Midwest Region to start the year. The six-time AAC champion and winners of four of the last five American titles are poised for a big year after returning 2022 American cross country runner of the year and two-time cross country all-conference performer Chloe Hershenow and 2023 cross country all-conference runner Robyn Kowalski.

Set to run for the men on Friday are Colton Berquist, Luke Birdseye, Ben Brown, Jaden Forester, James Knockton, Brady Korsmo, Sean Korsmo, Charlie Krasnoff, Luke Lambert, Shay McEvoy, Chris McLeod, Grant Musick and Oisin Spillane. Representing the women in Stillwater will be Alicen Ashley, Chloe Hershenow, Sarah Hosey, Kathryn Koonts, Robyn Kowalski, Matilda Laidlaw, Sophia McNerney, Ailey Mitchell, Amy Morefield, Sara Morefield, Billie Rouse, Sara Scott and McKenna Terrell.
