TULSA, Okla. — The 33rd women's soccer Mayor's Cup came down to a 1-1 draw between the Tulsa women and Oral Roberts at the Case Soccer Complex on the ORU campus Thursday night. The Golden Hurricane moves to 2-1-2 and the Golden Eagles shift to 1-3-1.

Each team had multiple looks throughout the game as ORU finished with 17 shots, including four shots on goal, while the Hurricane had 12 shots and five on goal. The Golden Eagles finished with seven corner kicks to Tulsa's five.

TU's lone goal came from sophomore forward Leah Diaz, who punched it in unassisted in the sixth minute. No goals were scored for the next 82 minutes until Oral Roberts got away with a heroic score from Samantha Guzman from Jordan Grigsby at 88.09.

Tulsa will host Arkansas-Pine Bluff next on Sunday, Sept. 1, at 3 p.m. in the Hurricane Soccer Stadium.

How it Happened
Tulsa took no time to score as Leah Diaz drove in a solo goal into the lower right of the net within the sixth minute to give Tulsa the opening advantage. Diaz drove it in from just in front of the goal area for her third goal on the season.

The two teams had a fair share of chances to score in the remainder of the first half. ORU had eight shots to Tulsa's seven. Four of TU's attempts were on goal, while the Golden Eagles had only two on goal. The score at the half was 1-0 Tulsa.

The second half was filled with scoreless shots as ORU recorded nine shots and two shots on target, while Tulsa had five shots and one on goal.

Just when it looked like it would end in a 1-0 winner for Tulsa, Oral Roberts' Samantha Guzman knocked in a goal in the 89th minute into the bottom right side of the net from inside the penalty area, similar to Diaz's goal in the first frame. TU had no time to answer as time expired, leaving 1-1 on the scoreboard.

Leah Diaz scored her third goal of the season and seventh in her career.
Diaz is now tied with freshman teammate Blaine Schutte for a team-leading three goals on the year.
Tulsa had a 1-0 lead for 82:51.
Tatum Sanders spent all 90 minutes between the poles and had three saves.
ORU had seven corner kicks, and Tulsa had five.
The Golden Eagles had 17 shots, including four shots on goal, while the Hurricane had 12 shots and five on goal.
