Volonski, Two Doubles Pairs Advance to ITA Central Regional Championship Quarterfinals

NORMAN, Okla. – Tulsa wrapped up a strong day of competition at the ITA Central Regional in Norman, Okla., highlighted by Nikita Volonski's two single victory and two Golden Hurricane doubles teams advancing to the quarterfinals.

Volonski battled through a pair of three-set matches, first rallying for a 3-6, 7(7)-6(5), 6-1 win over Oklahoma State's Haydar Cem Gokpinar, before defeating Oklahoma's Hank Trondson, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, to move into the quarterfinal round.

Takeshi Taco earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Oklahoma State's Charlie Valentine before falling 4-6, 4-6 to Oklahoma's Oscar Lacides. In other singles action, Victor Tosetto dropped a tight three-set match to Oklahoma State's Ian Bracks, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3; Timothy Carlsson Seger fell 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 to Nebraska's Nikolay Sysoev; and Reiya Komagata came up short against Oklahoma's Luis Carlos Alvarez Valdes, 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles play, Calum Jestin and Connor Doig secured an 8-6 win over a Memphis duo to advance to the quarterfinals, where they will face Oklahoma's Bruno Nhavene and Oscar Lacides. Taco and Volonski also moved on with an 8-2 victory over an Oral Roberts pair and will meet Oklahoma's Alvarez Valdes and Alejandro Melero in their quarterfinal matchup. Komagata and Tosetto fell 3-8 to an Oklahoma duo, while Seger and Tettamble dropped their match 6-8 against a team from Arkansas.

Volonski will return to the court tomorrow at 9 a.m. in the singles main draw quarterfinals, while the doubles quarterfinals matches have yet to be scheduled.
