Humphrey, McEvoy Lead the Way in Final Regular Season Race

COLLEGE STATION, Texas / MADISON, Wisc. —Evyn Humphrey and Shay McEvoy led the way for the Tulsa men's and women's cross country teams in their final regular season meets on Friday, October 17. Humphrey finished seventh at the Arturo Barrios Invitational in College Station, Texas while McEvoy was 42nd at the Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin, featuring 18 nationally ranked programs.

Humphrey ran a personal best to pace the women to start the day, running a 19:38.9 in the 6K race. Kathryn Koonts (47th) followed her with a personal-best 20:50.8 along with Sara Morefield's (62nd) 21:11.3. Robyn Kowalski (65th) scored for the Golden Hurricane with a time of 21:13.0, along with Matilda Laidlaw's (72nd) 21:21.3, a personal best. Ailey Mitchell (22:52.9), Sarah Hosey (22:05.7), Billie Rouse (23:11.9, PB), and Anna Lester (23:22.1) also competed in the team's final meet before the conference championships in roughly three weeks.

On the men's side, McEvoy ran a 23:53.6 to lead the Golden Hurricane in one of the most competitive events in the country. Ben Brown (67th) clocked in with a time of 24:06.4. Charlie Krasnoff finished 143rd while less than four seconds separated James Knockton (163rd) and Joseph Stoddard (168th). Luke Birdseye also ran for TU, recording a time of 25:44.1.

At the Nuttycombe, 15 of the top 17 teams are nationally ranked, with No. 3 New Mexico coming away victorious with 51 points. They were led by individual winner, Habtom Samuel's time of 22:58.0. Tulsa finished ahead of No. 1-ranked Iowa State who placed 27th with 638 points.

In College Station, Wake Forest claimed the team title with 78 points while Elizabeth Khatevi of Texas A&M – Corpus Christi was the individual champion with a time of 18:56.1.

Next up, Tulsa heads to Charlotte, North Carolina for The American Championships on November 1 before the NCAA postseason begins on November 14.
