Tulsa Men Drop Mayor's Cup Match to ORU

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa (2-7-2, 1-3-0) was defeated by Oral Roberts (3-7-1, 0-1-0), 1-0, Tuesday night at the Case Soccer Complex.
The first half between Tulsa and Oral Roberts was marked by physical play, resulting in several fouls. Tulsa's Jared Aguilar produced the most significant scoring opportunities with two shots in quick succession, both saved by Oral Roberts' goalkeeper Joao Mesquita at the 36th minute. This marked a career high for Aguilar in shots on goal. Oral Roberts' Emilio Cazares threatened early with two shots, with the first blocked and the second missing wide left. The period ended scoreless, as both teams struggled to convert their chances into goals.
Oral Roberts took the lead in the second half when Ronardo Burgher scored in the 79th minute, assisted by Cazares. Tulsa had a chance to equalize earlier in the half when Jake Reich took a shot in the 63rd minute, but it went wide. This was Reich's second game in a row with two shots. Both teams were active defensively, resulting in multiple fouls and two yellow cards against Tulsa players Joao Neves and Aguilar.
