Tulsa’s Cartwright Named Second Team Preseason All-Conference

IRVING, Texas – Tulsa women's basketball junior Mady Cartwright has been named to the American Preseason All-Conference Second Team, as voted on by coaches and announced by the league on Thursday.
 
A guard from Greenwood, Ark., Cartwright ended her sophomore season last year on a high note, scoring 10 or more points in the final seven games of the year to help push the Golden Hurricane to their third postseason in the last four seasons. After starting in all 32 contests, Cartwright finished with averages of 10.5 points (336), 3.6 rebounds (116), 1.9 assists (61) and 1.5 steals (47) in 27.0 minutes per game.
 
Overall, Cartwright had 17 double-figure scoring games, including two 20+ point efforts, one double-figure rebounding contest and one double-double. She led Tulsa in steals for 10 games, assists in six contests, scoring on four occasions, and rebounds and blocks twice.
 
In her career, Cartwright has 62 starts in 67 games. She has 27 double-figure scoring contests for Tulsa, including two 20+ point games, one double-figure rebounding contest and one double-double. She maintains career averages of 8.6 points (573), 3.2 rebounds (214), 1.7 assists (114) and 1.3 steals (88) heading into her third season at TU.
 
In the preseason coaches' poll, the Golden Hurricane was picked eighth in the 13-team league. Reigning American Champion South Florida was picked to finish atop the conference with 11 first-place votes, followed by UTSA and Rice, who each received one first-place vote.
 
The Golden Hurricane will start their season at home on November 5 in the Donald W. Reynolds Center against New Orleans. Tipoff time is set for 6:30 p.m.
