Tulsa’s Dora Toman Named American Freshman of the Week

Abby Jegede Also Listed as a Weekly Honorable Mention
IRVING, Texas. — After making an immediate impact in her first two collegiate games for the Golden Hurricane, Dora Toman has been selected as the first American Conference Freshman of the Week this season. Her teammate, Abby Jegede, was also tabbed as one of five Weekly Honorable Mentions on Monday.
A guard from Budapest, Hungary, Toman finished week one as the league leader in blocks (5), blocks per game (2.5) and minutes per game (36.53). She also led all conference freshmen in steals per game (2.5), total steals (5), assists per game (5.0) and total assists (10) through two games. Toman also ended the week ranked second in rebounding among all conference freshmen behind Tulsa's Alisha Peavy, earning 9.0 boards per game.
In the Golden Hurricane's 79-59 win over Prairie View, Toman led TU with 14 boards, five assists, three steals and two block. Prior to that, she led Tulsa in the season-opening win against New Orleans with five assists and three blocks.
Jegede, a redshirt junior from Toronto, finished second in the league this week in points with 19 per game. She peaked with a career-high 29 points on Sunday's win over Prairie View A&M, going 9/16 from the floor, 2/3 from 3-point land and a near perfect 9/10 from the charity stripe. She also averaged four rebounds, two assists and one steal per game in the opening week.
Tulsa continues non-conference play on Thursday, November 13, at home in the Donald W. Reynolds Center against Houston Christian (0-2). Tip-off is slated for 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
