Tulsa’s Riddick, Cartwright and Toman Earn American Conference Honors

IRVING, Texas — The University of Tulsa's Hannah Riddick, Mady Cartwright and Dora Toman were named to end-of-the-year American Conference women's basketball awards, announced Monday by the league and voted on by the conference coaches. Riddick took home First Team All-Conference honors, Cartwright was listed as Second Team All-Conference and Toman took home an All-Newcomer Team distinction.
A redshirt senior forward from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Riddick is the first transfer student-athlete in program history to earn American First Team All-Conference after just one season. She also joins Temira Poindexter and Delanie Crawford as third TU player to receive American Conference first-team accolades as she brings home the program's 13th overall first team all-conference award.
In 28 games played, Riddick averaged 14.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals. A five-time American Weekly Honorable Mention this season, she put up seven double-doubles, 21 double-figure scoring games, including seven games with 20 or more points, and eight double-digit rebounding performances. She led Tulsa boards 15 times, points and blocks 10 times, assists seven times and steals four times.
Riddick finished the regular season ranked fourth in scoring, fifth in field goal percentage (.506), 12th in rebounding and free throw percentage (.660) and 15th in blocking per game within the league. She also ranked fifth in double-doubles earned and fourth in number of 20-point games.
A junior guard from Greenwood, Ark., Mady Cartwright put up 15.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals after starting in all 30 games. As one of three players in the conference to earn two American Player of the Week awards, she earned 24 double-figure scoring games, including six 20-point contests, and one game with 31 points. She led the Golden Hurricane in scoring and assists 12 times, steals nine times and blocks once this season.
Cartwright ended the year ranked second in the league in free throw percentage (.842), third in scoring and sixth in three-point percentage (.295) and 3-pointers made (2.03). She also finished fifth in the league with six 20-point performances.
A true freshman guard from Budapest, Hungary, Toman was a seven-time American Conference Freshman of the Week, tied for the second-most in conference history. In 25 starts, she stuffed the stat sheets with 8.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.8 steals per contest. She led Tulsa in assists 11 times, rebounds and steals eight times, and scoring and blocks four times this year.
Toman concluded her first year at TU with one double-double, eight double-figure scoring games, one 20-point showing and two double-digit rebounding contests.
Tulsa looks ahead to their quarterfinal matchup on Thursday, March 12, at 12:00 p.m. between either No. 5 North Texas, No. 8 Charlotte or No. Florida Atlantic in the American Championship.
