TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Head Women's Basketball Coach Angie Nelp has signed three incoming freshmen to the 2026-27 signing class on National Signing Day, including Mckenzie Jones, Cameron Schmidt and Jaelynn Scott.
"We are excited to announce the addition of these three outstanding student athletes to our basketball family," said Nelp. "Each of these players bring a unique skill set, competitive excellence and proven success from winning high school programs. Their character and commitment to excellence make them tremendous additions to our team."
Jones, a 5-10 point guard from Dayton, Ohio., is a returning letterwinner for Springboro High School in Springboro, Ohio, after playing two seasons for Purcell Marian High School in Cincinnati. Jones has averaged 7.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists throughout her high school career. Last season, she put up 11.7 points, 5.9 boards and 1.7 assists to lead Springboro to a 24-6 record, a district title and a semifinal finish in the Ohio Division I State Championship. Along the way, she was named Honorable Mention All-Ohio, All-Southwest District Third Team, District 15 All-Star and Second Team All-Conference.
At the club level, she played for United Family 3SSB.
"McKenzie [Jones] is a skilled lead guard who plays the game with great poise and pace," Nelp said. "She is a proven floor general who can score from anywhere on the court while setting the tone defensively. Her leadership, decision-making and relentless drive to improve make her an ideal fit for our playing style and culture."
Schmidt is a 6-1 wing/small forward from Fort Smith, Ark. As a three-year starter for Northside High School in Fort Smith, she's averaged 10.9 points and 8.3 throughout her high school career. As a junior last season, she put up 11.5 points, 8.9 boards, 1.7 steals and 1.0 assists to lead her squad to a 28-5 record and a run to the Arkansas 6A State Championship title. By the end of that season, she was named All-Conference, All-State, All-State Tournament and Arkansas Gazette First Team.
Schmidt also played club ball for AAO Flight for three seasons.
"Camryn [Schmidt] is a hybrid forward who brings size, versatility and a tremendous work ethic," Nelp continued. "She is a well-rounded player with effective perimeter skills and a strong understanding of the game. Her ability to stretch the floor and impact both ends make her a valuable asset to our program."
Scott, a 6-0 shooting guard from Holden, Mass., is a two-year letterwinner for Wachusett Regional High School in Holden, where she's averaged 15.8 points and 9.2 rebounds per game throughout her career. As a junior in 2024-25, she averaged a double-double throughout the season with 20.3 points and 10.4 rebounds per game to push her squad to a near-perfect 24-1 record. She helped her team win the Massachusetts Division I State Championship with 31 points and 14 rebounds, including the game-winning layup with four seconds left to take the title.
"Jaelynn joins us as a hybrid guard with the ability to score at all three levels and excel in the open court," said Nelp. "Her athleticism, versatility, and skillset will allow her to thrive in our system at TU. She has a competitive energy and drive that will immediately impact our team."
