
Tulsa Women Fall to Houston in Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship Finale

NASSAU, Bahamas — Tulsa (5-2) fell to Houston (5-3), 66-61, in a tightly contested neutral-site matchup in the consolation round of the Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship on Sunday. Tulsa's efforts in the paint yielded 40 points, but Houston's defense forced 23 turnovers, proving decisive in the contest.
Hannah led the Golden Hurricane in nearly every statistical category, finishing with team-highs of 22 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks. She went 9/15 from the field and 4/6 from the charity stripe to earn her second 20+ point performance of the season.
The game began with Tulsa's Mady Cartwright securing a steal early on, but Houston's Jade Jones put the first point on the board with a free throw. Haven Fisher responded for the Golden Hurricane by draining a three-pointer at 8:05, assisted by Hannah Riddick, giving them the lead. Fisher continued to build momentum with a layup, extending the lead to 5-1. Houston's Kayla King narrowed the gap with a layup, followed by Briana Peguero's jumper, tying the score at 8-8. Despite a brief lead by Tulsa after Abby Jegede's three-pointer, Houston's Kyndall Hunter scored a layup and a jumper in quick succession at the end of the quarter, securing a 21-17 advantage for the Cougars going into the second quarter.
Houston outscored Tulsa 19-16 in the second quarter, highlighted by TK Pitts, who scored multiple times in the paint, including a critical layup at 2:49 that extended their lead. Riddick made a significant impact for Tulsa, scoring a layup at 9:00 with an assist from Cartwright and adding another layup at 5:15. Despite Tulsa's efforts, including a defensive block by Rylee Grays at 6:42, Houston maintained its lead with pivotal plays such as a jumper from Peguero at 1:30. The game concluded with Merchant hitting a free throw with 1 second remaining, sealing the win for Houston.
Tulsa will return home to host Mississippi Valley State on Thursday, December 4, at 6:30 p.m. in the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
