Tulsa Finishes Opening Day of Cowboy Classic

STILLWATER, Okla. — Tulsa men's tennis opened play at the Cowboy Classic hosted by Oklahoma State with a strong first day, highlighted by three singles victories and a doubles win on Thursday in Stillwater.
In doubles action, Takeshi Taco and Gus Tettamble teamed up for a 6-3 victory over Wichita State's Mashni and Roche to advance to the semifinals. Meanwhile, Reiya Komagata and Victor Tosetto dropped a tight 7-5 match against SMU's Arora and OSU's Kobelt.
The Golden Hurricane shined in singles play, as Taco, Komagata, and Tosetto each secured wins in the round of 16. Taco battled through a three-set thriller to defeat Wichita State's Zaid Mashni, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. Komagata cruised past WSU's Amir Milushev in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0, while Tosetto outlasted OSU's Thomas Gadecki, 7-6, 7-5.
Tettamble also turned in a gritty performance, falling just short in a marathon three-set match against Wichita State's Luke Bracks, 4-6, 7-6, 6-7.
Tulsa will continue play at the Cowboy Classic on Saturday with singles quarterfinals and continued doubles action.
