Baylor Hayes completed 24 of 46 passes for 235 yards, though he was intercepted twice, and added a rushing touchdown on 19 carries for 47 yards. The 47 rushing yards for Hayes were a career-high. Seth Morgan was perfect in his placekicking duties, converting all three field goal attempts, including a long of 49 yards. Defensively, Nahki Johnson recorded two tackles and a sack.
Terez Reid intercepted Hayes on the first drive at the Tulsa 49-yard line, setting up the Owls with excellent field position. Garrison Smith capitalized on the turnover with a 35-yard field goal, giving Florida Atlantic an early 3-0 lead. Later, Caden Veltkamp connected with Jayshon Platt for a 47-yard touchdown pass, extending their lead to 10-0.
In the second quarter, FAU's Caden Veltkamp fumbled at the Tulsa 3-yard line, with Byron Turner Jr. recovering for the Golden Hurricane. In the third quarter, Tulsa narrowed the gap against Florida Atlantic with two touchdowns. Hayes scored on a 7-yard rush with 9:38 remaining, though the ensuing two-point conversion failed. Allen added another score for the Golden Hurricane on a 2-yard run with 2:38 left, but again the two-point attempt was unsuccessful. Florida Atlantic maintained their lead, however, as Garrison Smith kicked a 20-yard field goal at the 5:34 mark.
In the fourth quarter, Allen rushed 11 yards to advance to the FAU 8-yard line, setting up a 22-yard field goal by Morgan to narrow the score gap. FAU quickly responded with a 27-yard rush by Kaden Shields-Dutton, followed by a significant 30-yard pass from Zach Gibson to Jayshon Platt, leading to a touchdown pass to Easton Messer at 9:58. Tulsa would not get anymore momentum going and would fall, 40-21.
