Four Tulsa Volleyball Players Tabbed CSC Academic All-District

TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa volleyball team not only excelled on the courts this season but also in the classrooms, placing four student-athletes on the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. The Golden Hurricane reached the maximum volleyball limit of four honorees this year, which includes Brittany Bacorn, Beth Bayless, Kat Cooper and Lauren Patterson.
 
The CSC Academic All-District award celebrates student-athletes who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher while making major athletic contributions to their programs.
 
Tulsa Honorees
Brittany Bacorn – Setter
A sophomore from Knoxville, Iowa, Bacorn has a 3.829 GPA in Management and Marketing. She took on a defensive role for the Golden Hurricane this season, averaging 2.63 digs while putting up 1.18 assists per set. She finished with three double-doubles, 17 double-digit dig contests and five double-figure assist matches after competing for TU in every single set across all 32 matches this year. Bacorn also excelled on the serve, leading Tulsa in aces for 11 matches and finishing with 35 on the year.
 
Beth Bayless – Outside Hitter
A Tulsa native, Bayless maintains a 3.964 GPA in Speech Pathology. She averaged 2.69 points (255.5) and 2.55 kills (242) in 95 sets spanning 28 matches for the Golden Hurricane this year, leading TU in kills three times and aces once. The senior finished with eight double-figure kill matches, including a peak of 18 kills against Incarnate Word. Bayless put up 2.58 points and 2.33 kills during TU's run to the American title, peaking with 12 kills against Florida Atlantic in the quarterfinal. She was also errorless in against Miami in the NCAA Championship First Round, earning eight kills on 18 swings.
 
Kat Cooper – Middle Blocker
Hailing from Springdale, Ark., Cooper holds a GPA of 3.714 in Applied Mathematics. The San Diego State transfer averaged 3.00 points (342), 2.45 kills (279) and 0.85 blocks (97) after starting in all 114 sets across all 32 matches this season. The senior had 13 double-figure kill matches this year and led TU in blocking 13 times and kills on five occasions. Cooper peaked with a .786 hitting match against Charlotte and was a force to be reckoned with in postseason play, earning 2.83 points, 2.33 kills and 0.75 blocks in TU's run through the American Championship. She had with 11 kills in the title match against Rice and four blocks against the hosting USF Bulls in the semifinal, while also hitting without an error against Miami in the NCAA Championship First Round, earning nine kills on 22 swings.
 
Lauren Patterson – Libero
A junior from Portland, Ore., Patterson has a 3.833 GPA in Marketing. The Loyola Marymount transfer was Tulsa's leader in digs this season, earning 3.59 digs (409) per set after starting in all 114 sets across all 32 matches played for Tulsa. Patterson had 19 double-figure dig contests and four matches with over 20 digs. She led the Golden Hurricane in digs 13 times this season and also excelled on the serve with 32 aces. She had the best individual dig and serve performances of the season, earning team-highs of 28 digs against Incarnate Word and six aces against UTSA. Patterson put up 3.33 digs per set in Tulsa's run to the American Championship, peaking with 20 in the final against Rice. Finally, she led TU with 12 digs against Miami in the NCAA Championship First Round.
