Mady Cartwright Also Named a Weekly Honorable Mention
IRVING, Texas. — The Golden Hurricane's Dora Toman has been named the American Conference Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced Monday. She ties Tulane's Mecailin Marshall for the most freshman of the week awards so far, while TU junior guard Mady Cartwright earned a spot on the Weekly Honorable Mention list.
Hailing from Budapest, Hungary, Toman averaged 15.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 steals and 4.0 assists in two starts for TU last week. She didn't turn the ball over once and totaled eight assists, finishing with an efficient 8.0 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Toman had the best game of her young career against Mississippi Valley State on Thursday. She led the Golden Hurricane in nearly every statistical category, finishing with 22 points, nine boards, seven steals and five assists to help Tulsa set the single-game scoring record with 101 points.
Cartwright picks up her second Weekly Honorable Mention this season after earning a team-leading 18 points per game while also averaging 5.5 points, 1.5 steals and one assists per contest. She sank three 3-pointers in each game and led Tulsa with 19 points against Creighton while going a perfect 6/6 from the free throw line in the loss to the Bluejays.
Tulsa continues non-conference play on Monday, December 15, against Oklahoma State in Stillwater. Tip-off is slated for 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
