WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. — True freshman Anna Kublova of The University of Tulsa rowing team has been selected to the For Stars Network (FSN) Spring Athlete Division I Watchlist, it was announced Wednesday.
Hailing from Piestany, Slovakia, Kublova enters her first spring season with the Golden Hurricane. In October, she was a key part of the boat that won the Frosh 4+ race at the Head of the Oklahoma regatta in Oklahoma City. She and her teammates finished in 16:10.3, beating out boats from Colorado, TCU, Rice, Oklahoma State, Central Oklahoma, Wichita State, Colorado State, and Texas Tech by well over three minutes.
Kublova is one of 10 rowers from the Big 12 and one of 163 total student-athletes to be selected to the watchlist. A total of 1-3 athletes from each of the 93 Division I teams have been selected as athletes "on the rise" in the program. Kublova demonstrated and qualified her placement on this watchlist through her race results, erg times, improvement within the program and positive trajectory in talent and skill.
Tulsa will hit the water in Oklahoma City on Saturday, March 8, for head races against Central Oklahoma and Kansas State.
