Tulsa Completes Round One of Briar’s Creek Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C. –– The Golden Hurricane women golfers are in 13th after the opening round of the Briar's Creek Invitational at the Golf Club of Briar's Creek on Sunday. Tulsa shot a combined 306, 18 shots over par.
Expected weather has turned the event from a 54 to a 34-hole competition. Teams will not play on Monday but will return to the course on Tuesday for the final 18 holes.
Florida State will carry a nine-stroke lead into the final day after shooting 8-under-par. The Seminoles were the lone team to finish under par after day one. Kent State is 1-over after 18 holes and is in second place. NC State and Purdue sit at 3-over-par, while two strokes behind them sit a grouping of Maryland, SMU, East Carolina and Charleston in a tie for fifth.
Individually, Sydney Seigel, Allyn Stephens and Romaine Masserey all carded a 4-over, 76 and are in a tie for 47th. Lovisa Gunnar is in 65th, two strokes behind the trio, and Jenni Roller shot an 80 and is in a tie for 78th. Stephens and Masserey recorded Tulsa's two birdies on the day. Stephens notched hers on the par-5 18th, and Masserey birdied 11, a par-4.
Tuesday's final round will have an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start. All of Tulsa's golfers will begin on the back nine. Seigel will tee off from 11 and Masserey will begin on 12. Gunnar and Stephens will tee off with groups one and two on 13, and Roller begins on 14.
