Crawford receives Ambassador Award and unanimous First Team All-Conference, Alexander tabbed All-Freshman

IRVING, Texas — The University of Tulsa's Delanie Crawford and Kennedi Alexander were named to end-of-the-year American Athletic Conference women's basketball awards, announced Friday by the league and voted on by the conference coaches. Crawford received the Ambassador Award and unanimous First Team All-Conference honors, while Alexander was named to the All-Freshman Team.

A true freshman guard from Houston, Texas, Alexander became the seventh TU player in program history to earn AAC All-Freshman accolades. In 10.6 minutes per game off the bench, she averaged 3.6 points and 2.0 rebounds through 27 games played. Alexander had her breakout game against Creighton on Dec. 1, scoring 11 points off 4-of-9 field goal shooting and going 2-for-2 from the line. She also set season-highs of eight rebounds against Memphis (Jan. 25), three assists against Kansas City (Dec. 15) and Memphis (Jan. 25) and three steals against Chicago State (Nov. 27). She also finished with nine blocks.

The American's Ambassador Award recognizes sportsmanship, ethical behavior, fair play and integrity, along with community service off the court. A senior guard from Piedmont, Okla., Crawford became the second Golden Hurricane to bring home the prestigious award, joining Maya Mayberry (2020-23) in 2023.

Crawford has been a positive beacon for the team through each of the four seasons she's spent at TU. She was the face of the Hurricane this season and earned team captain status through her continuous representation of the three core pillars of the program: love, trust and work.

Off the court, Crawford's accumulated over 200 volunteer and community service hours with numerous organizations around the Tulsa area, including but not limited to: Tulsa Public Schools, Saint Francis Children's Hospital, Little Light House Exceptional Learning Facility, Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges, Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, Tulsa Animal Welfare, Solid Foundation Preparatory School, Team Impact, Salvation Army Tulsa, Trinity Woos Retirement Community, American Heart Association and I Am A Promise Summer Camp.

Crawford joins AAC Player of the Year Jordyn Jenkins of UTSA and Preseason Player of the Year Tommisha Lampkin of North Texas as the only unanimous choices for first team all-conference. Crawford now stands as the second American First-Team All-Conference selection and second unanimous decision in program history, joining Temira Poindexter (2021-24).

Through 30 starts, Crawford averaged 16.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.7 steals per game. She led the league in free throw percentage (.871) and finished the regular season ranked second in points (507) and made 3-pointers (74), fourth for points per game (16.9) and field goals made (176) and fifth for 3-pointers made per game (2.47). She came away with two double-doubles and scored in double figures in 26 contests, including 10 with over 20 points and one 30+ scoring game.
