Tulsa Men’s Tennis Takes Down Creighton and Wichita State on Senior Day

4/6/2025 3:06:00 PM | Men's Tennis

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa men's tennis team cruised to 4-1 and 4-0 wins over Creighton and Wichita State, respectively, in the Michael D. Case Tennis Center for TU's home finale and Senior Day Sunday. Redshirt junior Will Pellegrini was honored for his contributions to the program before the Golden Hurricane's noon showdown with the Shockers.

Tulsa's fifth consecutive win and seventh victory in the last eight outings improved the Hurricane to 14-12 overall.

Tulsa kicked off the day with a strong showing in doubles play against the Bluejays, running away with the opening score after 6-1 and 6-2 wins in the top two spots with the clinch by junior Luis Felipe Miguel and redshirt sophomore Gus Tettamble in the No. 2 spot.

Creighton briefly knotted up the team score at 1-1 with a win at Singles No. 4 before the Hurricane rattled off three quick victories in the first, third and fifth positions.

The Tulsa coaching staff rested some of their top singles players and gave the young core some valuable facetime with the courts, leading to junior Timothy Carlsson Seger clinching and ending the dual match at 4-1 with a 6-2, 6-1 two-set decision atop the singles lineup.

Against Wichita State, Tulsa captured the doubles point once again with wins from the top two duos. Miguel and Tettamble got the clinch with a 6-3 decision to follow sophomore Alex Okonkwo and junior Timothy Carlsson Seger's 6-1 victory at No. 1.

Okonkwo cruised to his 15th dual-match win this season and sixth consecutive victory atop the lineup after dismantling Kristof Minarik in a 6-1, 6-4 decision. His teammate Miguel copied his score for a two-set win at Singles No. 2.

Clinching and ending the Senior Day action was junior Reiya Komagata, who produced a methodical 7-5, 6-3 result in the fifth position. He now has a four-match win streak heading into the final stretch of the season.

The Tulsa men will conclude the regular season at Memphis (12-11) next Sunday, April 13, at 3 p.m. The American Men's and Women's Tennis Championships will run concurrently on the Tigers' home courts from April 17-20.
