Men's Soccer Drops Conference Opener 2-1 to Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte (2-2-1, 1-0-0) secured a 2-1 victory over the University of Tulsa (1-3-2, 0-1-0) on Friday night at Charlotte Soccer Field.
The first half between Tulsa and Charlotte saw Charlotte take control early on, with a series of corner kicks and shots, culminating in a goal from Andreas Evangelou in the 26th minute, assisted by Ben Fisher. Tulsa's defense, led by goalkeeper Carlito Saylon, faced pressure but managed to hold off further scoring with key saves, including one from a shot by Wiktor Pucilowski in the 34th minute. This match marked Carlito Saylon's second game this season with four saves, equaling his season high. Despite efforts from the Golden Hurricane's offense, including shots by Luc Achermann-Stanfield and Gyuwon Chong, they were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. The half ended with Charlotte leading 1-0, showcasing a defensive strategy that limited Tulsa's scoring chances.
