Morgan Named Lou Groza Star of the Week

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa graduate transfer kicker Seth Morgan was named to the Lou Groza College Star of the Week for his performance last Friday against Oklahoma State.
The Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award highlights the standout performances of three kickers from FBS division teams. These 'Stars of the Week' have showcased exemplary performances for their respective week and are potential candidates for the prestigious Lou Groza Award.
He is the first Golden Hurricane to earn an American Conference award this season. This is his second time winning this honor as a Golden Hurricane and third time being named American Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.
Morgan accounted for 13 of Tulsa's 19 points as the Golden Hurricane scored its first win against Oklahoma State since 1998 and its first victory in Stillwater since 1951 with a 19-12 decision.
Morgan connected on field goals from 27, 38, 47, and 47 yards, allowing the Golden Hurricane to score on each of its first five drives, not including the end of the first half. He additionally saw all six of his kickoffs result in touchbacks.
Teammate Ray Coney earned American Conference Honorable Mention honors. He had 13 tackles with a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss in a 19-12 win at Oklahoma State. Leads FBS with 49 tackles in 2025.
The Golden Hurricane and Green Wave square off against each other at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, at H.A. Chapman Stadium in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The game will be shown live on ESPNU.

The Award is named for National Football League Hall of Fame kicker Lou "The Toe" Groza, who played 21 seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Groza won four NFL championships with Cleveland and was named NFL Player of the Year in 1954. Although an All-Pro offensive lineman as well, Groza ushered in the notion that there should be a place on an NFL roster for a kicker.
