Tulsa Sweeps Doubleheader with Pair of 4-0 Wins

TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa men's tennis capped off a perfect Sunday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, earning a pair of 4-0 victories over Creighton and San Diego State to complete a doubleheader sweep.
The Golden Hurricane opened the first match by securing the doubles point in convincing fashion. Calum Jestin and Connor Doig set the tone with a dominant 6-1 win on court one, followed shortly by Nikita Volonski and Timothy Carlsson Seger's 6-3 victory at No. 2 to clinch the point. The third doubles match was left unfinished.
Tulsa carried that momentum into singles play, earning three straight-set wins to close out the match. Gus Tettamble was first off the court, rolling to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Lucas Mommessin at the No. 4 position. Victor Tosetto followed with a solid 6-3, 6-1 victory against Zachary Kuo on court five.
Doig sealed the team win for the Golden Hurricane with a hard-fought performance at No. 3 singles, defeating Rocky McKenzie 7-5, 6-1.
Singles matches on courts one, two and six were left unfinished after Tulsa secured the fourth point.
Facing SDSU, Tulsa secured the doubles point behind wins on courts two and three. Volonski and Carlsson Seger earned a decisive 6-2 victory over Imran Daniel Hazli and Aleksi Lofman, while Tosetto and Tettamble followed with a 6-3 win against Gonzalez Fitzmauric and Lars Johann to clinch the point. The top doubles match was left unfinished.
Momentum carried into singles play as Volonski was first off the court, delivering a commanding 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles over Hazli. Doig followed with a 7-5, 6-2 victory against Denis Maijorov on court five to put Tulsa one point away from the match.
While Tulsa jumped out to an early lead, the remaining singles matches tightened, with courts two, four and six all pushing into deciding sets. Takeshi Taco ultimately clinched the match for the Golden Hurricane at the No. 3 position, rebounding after a second-set tiebreak loss to defeat Finn Willman 6-1, 6-7(5), 6-2.
