
Golden Hurricane Drop Series Opener to USF, 6-4

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa fell to South Florida 6–4 on Friday evening at the Collins Family Softball Complex. South Florida capitalized on a pivotal four-run third inning to secure the win, despite a three-run response from the home team in the same frame.
Daeya Moses delivered a strong performance by hitting a home run and driving in two runs. Mackenzy Glenn contributed with two hits and an RBI from four plate appearances. Faith Russell added a hit and a walk, reaching base twice in her four plate appearances.
Tulsa opened the scoring in the second inning when Moses hit a solo home run to left field, putting them ahead 1–0 with her second long ball of the season.
In the third inning, South Florida responded with four runs. Toryn Fulton scored on an RBI single by Alexa Galligani, and two more runs scored on a fielder's choice with a throwing error. Alex Wilkes then doubled, bringing in another run. Tulsa countered with three runs in their half of the inning. Madison Garcia scored on a hit-by-pitch, and Russell came home on a fielder's choice by Moses. Amber Turner scored on a sacrifice fly by Glenn to tie the game at 4–4.
In the fifth inning, Wilkes from South Florida homered, putting them ahead 5–4.
South Florida added an insurance run in the seventh inning with a single by Jamia Nelson, extending their lead to 6–4. Tulsa threatened in the seventh with a pair of base runners but couldn't push a run across.
Game two of the series is scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Collins Family Softball Complex.
