
Late Rally Leads Tulsa to Third Straight American Conference Win

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Runs in the sixth and seventh innings while Maura Moore struck out five of the last six outs she recorded as Tulsa opened the weekend with a 4-3 win over Memphis.
Maci Cole posted a strong performance by recording two hits and driving in two runs, including a home run. Maura Moore was pivotal on the mound, pitching a complete game with eight strikeouts over 7.0 innings. Annika Dill contributed with a hit and added an RBI in the game. Moses made an impact by scoring twice and collecting one hit.
The Tigers took an early lead in the first inning with home runs from Deana Cunningham and Faith Brown, for the early 2-0 lead.
In the second inning, Cole tied the game for the Golden Hurricane with a two-run homer, bringing Moses home after her earlier walk. Memphis responded with an unearned run on a bases-loaded walk by Ariel Davis. Memphis held a 3-2 lead at the end of the second inning.
The game remained scoreless through the third, fourth, and fifth innings, with both teams unable to capitalize on their opportunities.
In the sixth inning, Dill singled up the middle, driving in Moses from second base to level the score at 3-3. In the bottom half of the inning, the rain came and forced a delay for nearly an hour.
Tulsa took the lead in the seventh inning when Claira Skaggs hit a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Madison Garcia, who had reached third base, to score. The Golden Hurricane secured the victory by holding the Tigers scoreless in their half of the seventh inning.
Tulsa goes for the series win tomorrow against Memphis with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
