Tulsa Overcomes Early Deficit in 12-8 Victory Over Charlotte

Faith Russell posted three hits and scored three runs, while Emma Vickrey matched Russell's offensive output, recording three hits and crossing the plate twice. Preslee Ray contributed significantly with three hits, including a triple and a home run, bringing in three runs. Aliya Scarborough added to the scoring with two hits and four RBI, including a double and a home run. Makenzie Freeman was terrific out of the bullpen, going 5.2 innings, striking out three and allowing just two runs.
Tulsa opened the game with two runs in the first inning. Claira Skaggs scored on a wild pitch, and Russell crossed home on a double by Mackenzy Glenn for the 2-0 lead.
In the second inning, the 49ers responded with six runs, including a three-run homer.
Tulsa reduced the deficit in the third inning with two runs. Madison Garcia singled, bringing home Vickrey and Glenn. Charlotte added one run in the bottom half, maintaining its lead at 7-4.
The fifth inning saw Tulsa take the lead with four runs. Russell scored on a sacrifice fly by Glenn, followed by a double from Scarborough that sent Annika Dill home. Ray's two-run triple completed the scoring with the Golden Hurricane ahead, 8-7. The 49ers answered with a run in their half of the inning to tie it at 8-8.
In the sixth inning, Scarborough hit a three-run homer, giving Tulsa an 11-8 lead that they would not surrender. In the seventh, Ray's solo home run made it a four-run game. In the bottom half of the inning, Freeman kept Charlotte off the board to hang on for the win.
These teams wrap up the regular season tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m. in Charlotte.
