
Tulsa Drops Series Opener at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Tulsa fell to Charlotte, 7–3, on Friday evening at Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium. The visiting team managed seven hits, including a home run, but the 49ers' five-run fourth inning proved decisive.
Claira Skaggs highlighted her performance by hitting a home run and driving in two runs. Madison Garcia contributed by scoring a run and collecting a hit, while also stealing a base.
Tulsa started strong in the first inning with Skaggs hitting a home run to right center, driving in Mackenzy Glenn after Glenn walked, for the lead just two batters into the game. The home team got a run back in the second to make it 2-1.
Charlotte responded in the fourth inning. A double by Lewis, followed by a throwing error, allowed two runs to score. The 49ers then extended their lead with a two-run homer and an RBI double to make it 6-2.
In the fifth inning, Tulsa added a run when Garcia scored on a throwing error by Charlotte's second baseman after on a single. The 49ers added another run in the bottom of the inning for the final bit of offense on the night.
These two sides meet tomorrow at 12 PM CT in the second game of a three-game set.
