TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa (1-0-0) secured a 2-1 victory over the University of Central Arkansas (0-2-0) on Sunday at Hurricane Soccer & Track Stadium. This win marked Tulsa's ninth consecutive victory against Central Arkansas. The Golden Hurricane scored both of its goals in the second half, overcoming a first-half stalemate.

Tulsa and Central Arkansas opened play with both teams vying for early dominance. Tulsa's offense was active, with Makayla Muhammad taking a key shot in the 7th minute, which was saved by the UCA goalkeeper Hanna Hargrave. Despite several attempts, including shots from Aniya Facen and Kaylyn Simmons, Tulsa did not find the back of the net. Central Arkansas's Sakiko Manabe tested Tulsa's Maddy Nigey with a shot in the 13th minute, which was saved, maintaining the scoreless tie. The first period concluded with no goals, as both defenses held firm.

Tulsa secured a victory over the Bears with a late goal in the second period. Addison Castleberry opened the scoring for Tulsa in the 55th minute with an assist from Aniya Facen. UCA responded in the 65th minute with a goal by Caroline Billings, assisted by Kayla Hurley, leveling the score at 1-1. The decisive moment came when Brooklyn Bumgardner scored her first career goal in the 86th minute, assisted by Kyrsten Kizer, marking her first assist as a Golden Hurricane, sealing a 2-1 win for Tulsa.

Addison Castleberry highlighted the team's ability to handle pressure, saying, "I think that this team is good with reacting whenever stuff happens, but also being urgent whenever we need to and taking control."

Tulsa has a record of 1-0-0 after the victory. UCA falls to 0-2-0 following the defeat.

In their next game, Tulsa will face Stephen F. Austin on Thursday, Aug. 20, at 7 p.m. CT in Nacogdoches, Texas.
