Sydni Means
Sydni Means is in her third year with the Golden Hurricane as an assistant coach, joining the team prior to the 2021-22 season.

During her tenure, Tulsa has tallied 34 wins and advanced to the WNIT once.  Means has been instrumental in coaching Temira Poindexter, who was named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year in 2022.  Two players have earned all-conference honors and three have been tabbed to the league’s all-freshmen team in the past two seasons.

In 2022-23, Means helped the Hurricane post 17 wins for the second-straight season, tying the mark from the previous year for the most wins since the 2014-15 season.  Tulsa also posted a 5-0 record to start league play, the best in Tulsa’s nine-year history in The American, and put together a program-best nine-game home win streak (Feb. 27, 2022-Jan. 4, 2023).

In 2021-22, Means helped lead Tulsa to the WNIT Second Round, the program’s first postseason appearance in seven years.  The Hurricane recorded a 17-11 overall record, the most wins in eight years, and started the year with a 10-0 mark for the best start in school history.

Means came to TU after serving as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Mercer, for three seasons (2018-21).  She helped the Bears record 52 wins in three seasons, including a 19-7 mark in 2020-21 and a Southern Conference tournament championship and NCAA First Round appearance in 2019.

As a student-athlete, Means guided the Bears to 99 wins, three Southern Conference regular season titles, one Southern Conference tournament championship, and four postseason berths.  She concluded her career ranked second in assists (686) and steals (246), and fifth in free throw percentage (.779).  Her 264 assists as a senior ranked second for a single season in school history.

Means earned her bachelor’s degree in communication in 2018 and her master’s degree in higher education leadership in 2020, both from Mercer.
