The University of Tulsa alumnus, Taleya Mayberry, returned to serve as an assistant coach for the Golden Hurricane prior to the 2018-19 season and is in her third year with the program.
A four-year letterwinner (2009-13), Mayberry had 86 double-digit scoring games, and averaged 15.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. She concluded her career with 1,752 points for second on the all-time list, while also finishing second in field goals made (596) and assists (377), third in three-point field goals made (159) and steals (269), fourth in free throws made (391), sixth in points per game (15.2), and 10th in games played (114).
A native of Tulsa and Booker T. Washington High School, Mayberry previously served as a graduate assistant for the Oral Roberts women’s basketball team. At ORU, she performed data analysis of players and opponents, provided on-the-court support and training, and conducted various administrative functions for the team.
Prior to her stint at Oral Roberts, Mayberry was a professional basketball player for three years, playing for teams in China, Germany, Bulgaria and Iceland.
Mayberry earned her bachelor’s degree from Tulsa in 2013 and her master’s degree from Oral Roberts in 2018.
