Leah Schubring joined The University of Tulsa women's golf program as an assistant coach in August of 2024.
Schubring helped guide the Golden Hurricane to a second consecutive American Conference Championship during her second season at Tulsa. The title marked Tulsa’s first back-to-back conference championships since the 2004 and 2005 seasons and added to the program’s rich tradition of success, which now includes 15 conference championships across multiple conference affiliations. At the American Conference Championship, Tulsa placed three golfers inside the top 10, the most of any team in the field.
Tulsa placed four student-athletes on the All-Conference Team, the most of any program in the league, as Samantha Olson, Jenni Roller, Romaine Masserey, and Allyn Stephens each earned postseason honors.
In her first year at Tulsa, Schubring helped guide the women’s golf team to their first American Athletic Conference Championship since 2021. The Golden Hurricane won the AAC Championship by 21 strokes and finished the week 12-und par 852. She helped guide Romaine Masserey to the Individual AAC Championship, the first Tulsa player to claim the individual crown in program history. With her help, Roters and Schubring led TU to their 21st trip to an NCAA Regional appearance. Lovisa Gunnar, Romaine Masserey, Jenni Roller and Sydney Seigel all received all-conference honors in her first year as an assistant coach. During the regular season, she helped Roller to her first career victory as she was co-champion at the Veritex Bank Collegiate.
Prior to coming to TU, Schubring spent 16 months as a marketing and communications coordinator with the Minnesota Section PGA after finishing her playing career at Minnesota in May 2023. This past spring,Schubring served as a volunteer assistant women's golf coach at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, attending tournaments with the team and working with golfers on the course.
During the summers of 2022 and 2024, she volunteered at the Nike Golf Junior Full Day Camp. She helped instruct young golfers on the fundamentals of the game and collaborated with other volunteers on activities and drills for the students.
Schubring was a two-year letterwinner at Minnesota, competing in all 21 tournaments the Gophers participated in during her time with the team. She received the 2022-23 Big Ten Sportsmanship her senior campaign. Prior to joining Minnesota, she played a season at Nebraska in 2019-20. Schubring enjoyed a strong freshman year, producing the fifth-best stroke average by a freshman in school history (76.55), and was one of two Nebraska student-athletes to compete in all 17 rounds. Her 66 (-6) in the first round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge was the best round by a true freshman in Husker history.
A native of Red Wing, Minn., Schubring, former Leah Herzog, played her prep career at Red Wing High School, where she was a back-to-back individual state runner-up, led her team to a 2019 state team title and was Minnesota's named Ms. Golf as a senior.
Schubring graduated from the University of Minnesota in May of 2023 with a degree in English.
