Nevada Completes Season Sweep of Hurricane

The University of Tulsa volleyball squad continued on the success it had against Hawaii on Friday night, in its match with Nevada on Saturday. However, the Hurricane were not able to overcome the Wolfpacks size advantage in a UN 3-0 win (15-12, 15-3, 15-9).
Senior Kristien Van Lierop led the Hurricane attack with 11 kills, while junior Ashley Frogge added seven kills as well. Senior Shannon Smith recorded 36 assists, adding to her school record number of assists for the season. Defensively, junior Kara Hidinger led the squad with 11 digs while Smith and sophomore Erin Carlisle added nine digs apeice. Carlisle also added four blocks, with Hidinger contributing three blocks of her own.
Senior Navonna Chambers led the Wolfpack with 12 kills and a a.308 hitting percentage. Setter Jennifer Harris added 26 assists, while Suzanne Stonebarger added 15 digs.
The Hurricane fall to 17-12 (3-11 WAC) on the season. Nevada improves to 13-12 (10-4 WAC) on the year. Tulsa will close out its home schedule with a pair of WAC matches on Friday, Nov. 17 and Saturday, Nov. 18. TU hosts Fresno State at 2 p.m. on Friday in a match that will be aired by Cox Cable Ch. 9. On Saturday, TU hosts San Jose State at 7 p.m., following the Hurricane's football game with SJSU.
