Golden Hurricane Shut Out Lady Techsters in WAC Volleyball Action

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa volleyball team earned its second Western Athletic Conference victory with a 3-0 decision over Louisiana Tech at the Donald W. Reynolds Center on Saturday night.
Junior Tammy Leuer recorded her third double-double of the season with 10 kills and a match-high 16 digs. The Golden Hurricane outhit La. Tech in both kills, 51-39, and in hitting percentage, .294-.153. Freshman Kristin Bailey led the Hurricane attack with 13 kills, while senior Ashley Frogge' also contributed 10 kills. Freshman Vanessa Thon attributed for 38 of TU's 43 assists.
Louisiana Tech (7-12, 0-6 WAC) has yet to win a game in conference action, being shutout in all six of its previous matches. The Lady Techsters were led by Brianna Sibley with 12 kills and Jaime Cross with 32 assists.
Tulsa improves its record to 7-9 on the season and 2-5 in the WAC. The Hurricane will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 24 to host SMU in the third of four consecutive home matches for TU. The match, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., will also be aired live on Cox Cable, Channel 9.
The Golden Hurricane will close out its home campaign when it hosts Rice on Saturday, Oct. 27th at 7 p.m. in the Reynolds Center.
