Mustangs Stampede Hurricane in Volleyball Action

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa volleyball team suffered its fifth Western Athletic Conference volleyball match on Wednesday night to SMU in three games (30-27, 30-23, 30-17) in the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
Senior Janna Newsom led the SMU attack with a match-high 15 kills. She was the only person on either team to record double-digits in that category. While senior Kara Hidinger was the only person on either team to record double-digits in digs with 13 on the night.
SMU held advantages in kills (49-36) and in hitting percentages (.242-.059). The Mustangs evened their conference record to 4-4 while improving their overall mark to 9-10 on the season.
Tulsa was led by freshmen Lindsay Eaves and Kristin Bailey with nine kills apeice. Fellow freshman Dana Weddle also contributed seven kills, while setter Vanessa Thon added 31 assists.
The Golden Hurricane will conclude its home schedule on Saturday night when it hosts Rice at 7 p.m. The match will be the final home match for the TU seniors at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
