Iowa City, Iowa - The University of Tulsa rowing team sent three boats to Iowa City, Iowa for the Head of the Iowa Regatta this past Sunday, October 28th.

The varsity-4 "A" boat (16:21.94) finished three seconds behind the University of Minnesota (16:18.51) which won the women's open 4+ final. Coxwain Chrissie Williams led the Hurricane to its second second-place finish of the season. Tulsa's "B" boat , coxswained by Ariana Aldaco, finished in 18th-place with a time of 17:54.16. Rounding out the top-five were Minnesota's "B", Iowa's "A", Wisconsin, and Iowa's "B" boat.

The Hurricane had one boat in the women's open 8+ final. The boat was coxswained by Chrissie Williams who brought the boat in with a seventh-place finish (14:47.53). The race was won by the "A" boat from the University of Wisconsin with a time of 14:12.06.

"While the results don't necessarily show it, this was our best race of the season in the 8+," said Head Coach Jason Coffman. "Our goal was to be much more aggressive off the line than in the past few weeks, and we were. This was the most consistent effort we have had this season."

The ragatta was hosted by the University of Iowa on the Iowa River.

Tulsa will conclude its fall rowing season in two weeks on Sunday, Nov. 11, at the White Rock Invitational in Dallas, Texas.
