Volleyball Team defeats UMKC in Sunday Afternoon Action

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa volleyball squad utilized a 61-47 advantage in kills to the fullest in a four-game non-conference victory over UMKC (30-21, 30-21, 21-30, 30-27), Sunday at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
Tulsa's "fab -four" again carried the Hurricane, as Lindsay Eaves recorded a match-high 17 kills. Kristin Bailey and Dana Weddle contributed 13 and 12 kills, respectively. Freshman setter Vanessa Thon recorded a double-double with 52 assists and 12 digs. Weddle and senior Ashley Frogge' both added four blocks.
The Hurricane finished with 10 service aces, includeing four by Tammy Leuer. She also recorded a team-best 13 digs, while Hidinger also added 11 digs. While TU outhit the Kangaroos in the first game (.195-.081), UMKC finished with a better hitting percentage for the match (.193-.159).
Tulsa improves to 5-7 overall on the season, while UMKC falls to 3-12. TU travels to Florida on Wednesday for a match with Nova Southeastern in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. at 6 p.m. The Golden Hurricane will take on the Hurricanes on Thursday, as TU faces the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla., at 7 p.m.
