Tulsa, Oklahoma - Behind a 14-0 run to start the second half and a team-high 11 points from sophomore Candice Brewer, Tulsa turned back Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 66-56, at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

With the win, the Golden Hurricane improves to 3-3 overall and 2-1 at home this season, while the Golden Lions dropped to 1-2 in 2001-02. Tulsa head coach Kathy McConnell-Miller became the winningest coach in school history with her 25th win in just under three seasons. She surpassed former TU head coach Joyce Plagens (1982-84) for first place.

Including Brewer, TU senior Leela Farr was the only other Hurricane player to reach double figures as she finished with 10 points. Farr and junior Alyssa Shriver led TU in rebounding with eight boards apiece. Tulsa held a 51-42 rebounding advantage and tied the school record for single-game rebounds.

UAPB's Nikki Mooney finished with a game-high 13 points to lead the Golden Lions, while Khadijah Adul Haqq added 12 points. Both players pulled down a team-best eight rebounds apiece.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff held a 25-22 lead at intermission. Neither team shot well from the field in the first half, but the Golden Lions connected on 3-of-4 three-pointers and outrebounded Tulsa, 23-22. UAPB shot 37.5 percent from the field, while holding TU to a season-low 22.9 percent during the first half.

But the second half was a different story for both teams. Tulsa exploded out of the game in the final period with a 14-0 run and ran out to a 13-point, 38-25, lead with less than three-minutes gone by in the half. UAPB managed to pull to within six points, 50-44, on a jumper by Jessica Folice, but Tulsa answered with a 12-2 spurt for its largest lead of the contest with 1:34 left to play. However, the Lions ended the game with a 10-4 run.
